But she is all grown up and in a serious and long-term relationship with her boyfriend, Dralin Carswell. Fans of Thompson may have noticed that she wears a ring, but she's not engaged. Still, there is a very special meaning behind this piece of jewelry, and Thompson opened up about it in a recent interview with Us Weekly.

Does Honey Boo Boo Star Alana Thompson Get Along With Her Sisters Despite Her Feud With Mama June?

Alana Thompson and Mama June Shannon have had their differences, but Honey Boo Boo might be much closer with her three sisters than her mother.

"It's a promise ring," she said while promoting her mother Mama June Shannon's show, Mama June: From Not to Hot. "[I've had it since] we first got together. Everybody always asks me [if I'm engaged], and I'm like, 'I've literally worn this since we've gotten together.'"

Who Is Alana Thompson Dating?

Alana Thompson and Dralin Carswell have been dating since 2021, and although they are not currently married, it's definitely something they have considered for their future. "We talk about it, but definitely in the future. I want to at least finish school first and then get our heads on straight and then talk about marriage," Alana shared. She is also very determined to make something of herself, including getting an education and starting a career as a nurse (which may be a move to leave the reality TV world behind entirely).

"I just finished my first year, so I'm going into my second," Thompson said. "It was very hard for my first year because everything with Anna [Cardwell] and just trying to get adjusted to Colorado and college, but my second semester went a lot smoother, and I feel like I did a lot better that semester, and I think I finally got the hang of [the fact that] I'm in college. I still think sometimes I'm [just] walking around campus. I’m like, 'There's no way I've done graduated high school [and] I'm in college." For fans who are unaware, Thompson's sister, Anna "Chickadee" Cardwell passed away in December 2023. She died from cancer and was just 29 at the time of her death.

What Is Alana Thompson Doing Now?

Alana Thompson also wants to shed her Honey Boo Boo image, and she no longer likes to be referred to by her previous nickname. Despite this, she is still recognized, including on campus (and she doesn't always enjoy this). "It's a lot. People [will] take pictures in front of my car," she told Us Weekly. "I'm trying to find a parking spot, [and] people are just pointing me. It's a whole bunch. [And when] I'm just trying to walk to class, everybody's like, 'Can I get a picture?' And I'm like, 'I'm so sorry, I don't take pictures on my school campus because I'm here to learn not to have a meet-and-greet.'"

As Thompson tries to navigate life and set boundaries for herself, she wants her fans to know that when she is studying, she's not there as a celebrity. "That doesn't make a lot of people happy, but it is not for me. I don't personally care 'cause I pay for this college. I love my fans and all, but at school, that's a different time," she said.
